Ohio to Kentucky Caravan of Care  - Nearly 20,000 dollars in supplies delivered

(Columbus - OH) AFSCME Ohio Council 8 Locals from across the state came together to offer assistance to their Eastern Kentucky neighbors in their time of need, providing monetary donations and initially planning to fill a 15-foot truck with necessary supplies. There was such overwhelming support that members added a van filled with supplies including toiletries, baby formula, cleaning products, backpacks, diapers, pet food and so much more. Delivery of these supplies happened on Saturday afternoon following stops in Toledo, Dayton and Cincinnati. AFSCME union members in Akron, Athens, Cleveland, Columbus, and Youngstown also donated. Those who were not able to join the caravan provided financial contributions to purchase supplies.

The Kentucky AFL-CIO and AFSCME Indiana Kentucky Council 969 teamed up with Ohio Council 8 members to identify the supplies most needed in the area. The truck and van delivered supplies to Hazard, Kentucky to a distribution center operated by the Teamsters Union.
