AFSCME Ohio Council 8 Celebrates Public Employee Recognition Week with the Columbus Clippers
Local AFSCME Ohio Council 8 Member Will Throw Out the First Pitch
[Columbus, OH] — On Saturday, April 30, 2022, AFSCME Ohio Council 8 is partnering with the Columbus Clippers to celebrate the Columbus public employees who help make our cities run. Discounted tickets are available to public employees, including members from AFSCME Ohio Council 8, OCSEA, and OPASE.
AFSCME members from three different unions that represent public employees across Ohio will join the Columbus Clippers on the mound as Matt Bateman, a City of Columbus employee with 13 years of experience at the Water department throws out the first pitch.
Angela Williams an AFSCME Ohio Council 8 member who will join Matt on the field as he throws out the first pitch, is excited to take part in the day. “I am thrilled to join my union family and the Clippers on Saturday to kick off Public Employee Recognition Week. As a union member and a public employee, my work isn’t just a job, it’s a calling. While I know my coworkers and I don’t seek community accolades, it feels great to know that so many people care about us and the services we provide.”
